présage
As much an exhibition as an ecosystem, the project aims to honour nature and all the elements that make it up. From the smallest bacteria to the largest mammals, from fragments of shale to the oldest mineral concretions, the biocenosis, formed by a group of living beings and their interactions, continually demonstrates its capacity to adapt and its strong resistance to the assaults of humankind. Pioneering species succeed in transforming the waste products of our civilisations into rich soil that is conducive to life, gradually becoming the breeding ground for new environments.
How do artists work with the traces and energy of the living, with telluric powers? What kinds of associations can be seen between the processes of artistic creation and those of nature? These are the questions that Présage seeks to answer. Using nature as a plastic material, the artists on show work around it and all that it harbours.
Opening on Thursday 16 May from 6pm to 8pm, free admission!
Since 2003, the CCC OD, in partnership with the University of Tours, has welcomed a group of L3 students each year to introduce them to exhibition curating through the design and production of a full-scale curatorial project. They are supervised by a professor from the University and an exhibition manager from the CCC OD.
