The artist was born in Crest in 1955. He now lives and works in Paris.
Since he started exhibiting his work in the 1990’s, Pierre Ardouvin’s art has often been presented as a pathway through the hazards of consciousness and memory.
With great economy of means, he creates strange and sometimes disturbing visions inspired by day-to-day reality, that depict a form of contained violence.
His installations, sculptures, photographs or drawings are fed with personal and collective memories, that trigger a feeling of déjà-vu: the familiar scenes or objects comprised in his works are distorted through the effects of a disorienting alteration of perception, a confusion that indistinctly combines chaos, joy or nostalgia.
