1/87e

The exhibition 1/87th takes a retrospective look at the work of this artist active since the late 1980s on the French and international scene. Continuing the retrospective experiments carried out by the CCC in recent years, the exhibition does not reflect the completeness of the work, but invites to explore it through the prism of a single series: that of Statistics, which the artist has been developing for almost 25 years. Still in development, this series that made him known constitutes the foundation of his research, the foundational work of all the continuation of his work. Often approached for the singular and playful relationship they have with number and enumeration, the Statistics of Guy Limone are also crossed by the question of color, one of the great concerns of the artist that the exhibition brings to light in an unprecedented way.

guy limone

The artist was born in 1958. He lives and works in Paris.

Guy Limone’s work is deeply enshrined in the universe of painting, without being a tangible part of it. His work revolves around figurines, images from everyday life, and fluorescent tubes. He organises and ranks a multitude of elements according to a minimalistic and abstract mode, in an attempt to put some order in our chaotic world.

The exhibition presents a retrospective of Guy Limone’s “Statistics”, that he has been developing for twenty-five years.
He assembles crowds of small figurines that “embody” abstract statistical data to which he gives a humanistic form. This work evolves with time, and confers great importance to colour, one of the main preoccupations of the artist.
