là où les organes oragent

Winners of the Mécénat Touraine Entreprises award, Laura Bottereau and Marine Fiquet are both a creative duo and a couple.

Their approach is based on thorough research, particularly into the history of anatomy.

They explore the concept of bodily simulacra as archives and fragments to be reassembled in order to shape new discourses and emancipatory fictions. Through the figure of the anatomical Venuses, their exhibition develops the idea of the ‘body-catastrophe’, symbolically linking atmospheric phenomena with physical or psychological turbulence.

Exhibition made possible with the support of Mécénat Touraine Entreprises.

laura bottereau & marine fiquet

Laura Bottereau & Marine Fiquet, born in 1989 and 1990 respectively, live and work in Nantes. They are a couple of visual artists and have been working as a duo since 2013. Combining installation, image and text, their multifaceted approach creates bodily fictions made up of simulacra, testing the living, more or less. As gentle as they are cruel, their staged scenes invite shifting spaces of projection. The presences inhabiting their works embody transitional, shifting or mutating zones, blurring gazes, genders and ages. Drawing on various bodies of representation to create tension between them, the duo seeks to bring to the surface the paradoxes and affects that lie within.

They have taken part in several residencies and exhibitions in France and abroad. Their work has been exhibited at venues including the Transpalette – CAC in Bourges, the MAC VAL – Musée d’Art contemporain du Val-de-Marne, the Maison des Arts – CAC in Malakoff, and the Lieu Unique, Scène nationale de Nantes. They were recently awarded the Prix Utopi·e.
