The galeries transparentes at the CCCOD presents a selection of works by Ghislaine Vappereau made over some forty years. Since the beginning of her practice, she has worked within the field of sculpture in dialogue with the domestic space of the kitchen — a banal, commonly shared space whose sociological, even ethnographic, connotations she brings to light.

The exhibition adapts to the gallery’s configuration and presents, as seen from outside, different stages of this research. It offers visitors a discovery unfolding as they walk along the three façades. Without chronological order, the installation of the pieces is punctuated by groupings, associations, and ruptures — the works entering into dialogue with furniture, a table or a chair, which mischievously gives the exhibition its title: sparsely furnished (meublé sommairement).

No series is ever closed for the artist: materials and forms answer one another, are taken up again, and transform over time. It is this circulation between periods and techniques that the exhibition traces along the gallery — a body of work in constant recomposition, where each piece resonates with the one before it.
