sœur de jour
Éléonore False has conceived the exhibition “Sœur de jour” in the spirit of collage, her medium of choice. In it, she brings together works created over the past dozen years, rearranging them into new ensembles and collections according to their sensory and poetic affinities. At the heart of the exhibition, an installation immerses us in an evocation of intimacy, of the skin and its adornments. The peripheral galleries, meanwhile, open up to the living world through a wide selection of collages. Herbariums and bestiaries, treatises on anatomy or decorative arts intertwine their forms, motifs and textures in hybrid representations where reality reinvents itself.
Sœur de jour is also the title of the large floor-mounted textile work which, like a display case, houses ceramics, tapestries and sculptural images. On its surface, the lines of an assembly tray are visible – an object used to arrange the scattered beads of a piece of jewellery. This compositional tool resonates here as a metaphor for collage, which the artist envisages far beyond the sheet of paper. Her repertoire of cut-out forms is expanded, given volume or transformed into other materials to engage with the body and space. In this multifaceted exploration of the image, Éléonore False draws on artisanal and industrial techniques that bring everyday practices into the realm of art.
« Sœur de jour » is the first part of an exhibition that will continue at Les Tanneries d’Amilly with “Sister by Night”. Through a bond of sisterhood built on similarities and differences, the artist will explore a more dreamlike and nocturnal aspect of her work.
In partnership with Les Tanneries, Amilly’s contemporary art centre: the exhibition ‘Sœur de nuit’, from 17 October 2026 to 28 February 2027.
Le travail d’Eléonore False a reçu le soutien de la Fondation des Artistes, du Nouveau Musée National de Monaco et du Centre de céramique contemporaine La Borne.
