the ccc od
Right in the heart of the Loire châteaux region, the CCC OD provides the city of Tours with a prestigious creative centre of international renown.
Its 4,500 m2 building, exceptional for the quality of its space and the way it is lit, was designed by one of the most innovative architectural agencies, Aires Mateus: it houses four temporary exhibition spaces, an auditorium, a café-restaurant and a bookshop.
A place for sharing, living and meeting, the art centre offers the public the chance to experience art for real: it’s in this spirit that the programme occasionally brings together the work of Olivier Debré, a major figure in twentieth-century painting, with the most contemporary works.
an exceptional building
The Portuguese architecture firm Aires Mateus e Associados was chosen in 2012 in an international competition to design the CCC OD building.
Francisco and Manuel Aires Mateus are now among the leading exponents of Portuguese architecture, developing a timeless, uncluttered and minimalist style of architecture that is attentive to the potential for transforming the existing site. The CCC OD in Tours is their first French project; it paves the way for other major European museum projects, including the Mudac – Musée de l’Élysée in Lausanne.
the debré donation
The CCC OD is now the custodian of a donation from the heirs of Olivier Debré (1920-1999). It consists of five large oils on canvas (4*9m) designed especially for the CCC’s walls in 1991, 150 graphic works and a semi-permanent loan of 140 paintings. the CCC OD promotes the figure of the artist by devoting a series of temporary exhibitions to him and by preparing the catalogue raisonné of his works.
a unique 1% art project
The Baldinger et Vu-Huu agency was selected to create a typography for the entire graphic universe of the CCC OD, from its sign to its interior signage.
